Got up early to walk 8kn from Ranakpur to Kumbalgarh through the forest and hills of Aravalli range. It started off quite flat but soon we were climbing and climbing and climbing! It was great to do but a little on the warm side - we visited a tiny temple built into the side of the cliff and offered up some flowers. We received a sacred coconut and some sweeties for our time as well as.....yes, you guessed it - a dot on our foreheads! We finally reached the top of the cliff and met Raju and then he went and took us to a fort on the top of another hill! Our enthusiasm had waned by this point and we bade a hasty retreat back to the car. Headed down to Udaipur and had a very fine balti butter chicken for dinner on the rooftop of the lake palace - watched the world go by and the stunning fireworks from a wedding nearby. Tired but happy.
