We all had a great time at the elephant camp watching the ellies pratcing their logging skills, having a bath and feeding them loads of bananas and sugar cane. I have fallen in love with the baby ellie which i'm pretty sure had a character complex and thinks it's a dog.
We unintentionally managed to hitch hike back from the Ellie camp to Chaing Mai, whilst waiting for the bus on the side of the dual carriage way a car pulls over and says he's going to Chaing Mai and we're more then welcome to catch a lift, it all turned out really well no murder involved! reinforces how genuine the majority of Thai people are.
We saw a big temple the following day quite impressive, but we're still not quite sure what the grid of string was all about??? After a hard day of culture a beer was on the cards which came in the form of a 3litre tower of Chang which led to 3 more and a surreal night which ended in playing pool with a drunken tourist police officer (on duty i have to mention!) Steve and i called it a night at 5.30am and Roger carried on in true spirit, God he's got stamina!
We decided to leave the trekking for later in the travels so moved on to Chaing Rai making our way to the Border for the crossing into Laos. We met a couple of Guys Hennie and Tom from Belgium, ended up playing pool and getting them drunk when they had a trek the next day starting at 8.30am (oh dear sorry boys!!) Hennie was a glutton for punishment and liked the sound of Tubing for Christmas and decided to join us for a few weeks, Not much else to say about Chaing Rai not a lot going on...
We met Hennie at the border town of Chaing Khon, we went for a drink and dinner (contrary to what i'm writing beer is not the main activity but features most of the time!) we met loads of other people all on their way to Vang Vieng for Christmas all stopping at the same towns on the way, this could be interesting!!
Up early the next morning to get checked out of Thailand and on our way to Laos!!!!
