Early start from Marignane (Marseille’s Airport’s nearest town). A hot day in prospect - 25 degrees by 9am.
Cycled east towards and through Marseille (wake up and smell the covid), over a range of hills and through a dramatic rocky gorge.
Made it to the port city of Toulon by around 3pm. Around 100km covered. (Lunched, en route, on the juicy fruit of a wild fig tree.)
Had a beer on the dockside before boarding an overnight ferry to Bastia, Corsica.
