Day Nine. Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Woke up around 6am and were yet to dock, but got some great photos coming into Dubrovnik.
Last night's moon was yet to set and it offered some great views as we cruised through some island passages into port. We headed up for breakfast around 7:30 and then got off the ship for a look around.
The weather was warm 27c and the day was beautiful. We grabbed a cab to 'Old Dubrovnik' which is a fortified town on the banks of the Adriatic Sea. It is very old and there are lots and lots of steps. We took plenty of photos and then proceeded to the cable car to ride up to the top of the hill overlooking the city.
The queue for the cable car was long but only resulted in a 30 min wait. The ride up was quick (3 mins), and the view from the top was spectacular. It gave a great perspective of the old town and excellent views of the Islands, ocean, and mountain range behind.
We had a coffee and juice here at the small cafe and then took the cable car back down for a bit of tourist shopping. We had to be back on the ship by 3:45pm but we got back around 1:30pm as it was hot and we needed lunch.
The ship departed right on schedule at 4pm and we sat back with a drink and watched as we cruised past the Croatian coast. Around 5pm it was time to don on the suit, tie and dresses for the formal night. This consists of dressing up in your best attire for a meal in the main dining room.
We all had a great meal and enjoyed the formal nature of the night. We then did a bit of shopping and headed to the theatre for the official Captain's welcome followed by a show.
The welcome was great but the show was average, so we left and headed back to our room where we retired for the night around 12am.
Tomorrow is a day at sea so we will check out the different activities, restaurants, pools and bars on the ship.
