Day Nineteen. Toulon, France We woke up to our second last morning on the ship, opened the curtains and we were docking in Toulon. This is a French port town and has a naval base. The weather was overcast but reasonably warm and humid. We had a couple of options to get to the town centre being a water taxi or regular cab. We got up at 7am and headed for the Louvre. On our way Steve took a couple of photos of some Paris landmarks in the early morning rising sun. Our day started with a breakfast of fresh baguettes and coffee/hot chocolate. We caught a cab to the Catacombs which is a 2km underground tunnel, where over 6 million skeletal remains line the walls. This sounds very morbid, but has been respectfully kept to educate us on how they managed the number of bodies in the 1800's. We boarded on time in Perth, sat down to enjoy the flight and watched the TV screens which show the camera angels from outside the plane, only to find our ones were not working.
