Day Eight. Venice
We woke up at about 8:30 am which is quite late but considering we got to sleep at 1:30am it wasn't too bad. We decided against going back into Venice as the ship was to sail at 12pm and we needed to complete the mandatory Emergency Drill at 11:30am.
We went down to breakfast and was met with a huge range of options. We will be lucky if we fit into our pants after this trip! After breakfast we went back to our room and took everything out of our cases and put it into cupboards. The best thing about a cruise is that your room goes with you, so we took comfort in knowing we didn't have to unpack for the next couple of weeks.
We completed the drill and Steve took 10 flights of stairs to the Sunset Bar to hold a table at the back of the ship. This is the best vantage point to view our departure through Venice and into the open sea. As we departed, the views of Venice were magnificent and with waiters bringing drinks around, it was one of the highlights of the trip so far.
From here we went back to our rooms and while Donna had a sleep. Steve sat on the balcony with a drink and watched as land slowly disappeared.
Around 6:30 we all went up for dinner and watched the sun set. It was fairly quiet in the Buffet lounge and we all ate dinner before the boys grabbed a cheese platter and the girls retired for the evening. Steve & Larry checked out a couple of bars before heading back to the rooms.
Tomorrow, we explore Dubrovnik, Croatia.
