We arrived into Cambodia from Thailand by bus. Well they called it a bus! It didn't even have a dashboard never mind enough seats! It took 12 hrs including the border crossing, which we were told to expect to be ripped off again. But for some strange reason we sailed through without paying extra for this and that. We're getting quite savvy with borders now! The roads in Cambodia are awful!!! A bridge even collapsed after we had just crossed it! Apparently this is quite normal. Ok??? Siem Reap is interesting, there's all the BIG hotels and there's also many cheap guest houses. We're staying in a very nice place which costs US$8/night! Not bad! The children here remind me of Africa. They are constantly trying to sell their mothers for $1. Quite sad really. Today we went to the temples of Angkor Wat and I must say they are the most impressive structures we have ever seen, they are beautiful!!! So beautiful we're even off there at 5am to see sunrise tomorrow! We also went to the floating fishing village which was very cool. Some pics will be on the site soon. Im sat in the internet cafe while Lorna is having yet another 3 pounds full body oil massage.... not sure why im not there actually? We leave for the capital Phnom Penh in 2 days where we will spend 5 days before heading into Vietnam. Another border crossing. My passport can't take all this excitement!!! The last couple of days were good. We visited Aki Ra's land mine museum where he has 15 kids he has orphaned who are victims of land mines. Aki Ra can clear up to 300 mines a day using only a stick to detect them!!! He is crazy, but brilliant. Cambodia still has 6 million live land mines!!! Lorna and I really want to do something to help his cause, so we will probably be having a party when we get back. DANGER MINES!!! We also managed somehow to get up at 5am to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat. It was beautiful, especially sharing it with 300 other people!
