Well it's my turn again on the blog. Kaz has been complaining that her brain is going to mush, she is not sure if it is the all of the sweating or the beer drinking that is the cause. I will keep my opinions to myself!
A slow start to the day with our walking from last night taking it's toll. Spent most of the morning chasing up accommodation in Munich and checking how to catch a tram or bus in Warsaw as the walking is taking it's toll on the old legs.
All sorted so we went off to the Warsaw Rising Museum, which thankfully was a short walk from our apartment. I can tell you this is a very good museum that covers the Nazi and Soviet occupation from 1939 to 1945 but focussing mainly on the 60 day uprising in Warsaw in 1944 from the 1st August to 2nd October. I could write down heaps of facts and figures but basically the Poles had a hard time and though the museum has things we would rather not confront in my opinion it is a requirement to ensure that events that occurred do not happen again.
After that we went down the road to a local cafe and had the obligatory 0.5L of beer (mmm I like that beer!) with my beer drinking food (as noted on the menu) of boiled white sausage and fried traditional sausage with sauerkraut and horse radish. Kaz had a coffee and pork sandwich (the Polish definition of a sandwich is different than what she expected).
Probably a bit too much for lunch as we were feeling a bit lethargic so instead of going for a nanna nap we went off to the Old Town. Caught the tram and not feeling enthusiastic when we got there as it was raining, a bit of walking then, yes you guessed it, we stopped for a beer. Took sometime to get going but we managed to see the river (whoa hOo) then wander back to the market square where we were easily harangued into a bar for drinks (for the next 4 hours). Here we saw all the sights of Warsaw, piano accordion players (we have a recording and photos), german couples eat and drink enough to feed a family for 3 days and then stagger across the square, spoke to attractive Polish waitress about our travels (she was quite surprised when we said we were from Oz) and watched the soap bubble busker. Anyway in saying that it wasn't the german couple only who staggered across the square ( 1 male Australian was definitely seen to stagger), the soft serve ice cream was calling so in my fluent Polish I managed to get a beautiful ice cream (much to Kaz's disgust as I am not sure how much was over my mouth rather than in it). We arrived back at the apartment safe and sound (got no idea how to buy a ticket for the tram).
We liked Warsaw but you need to get public transport around the city centre, as the city was basically destroyed during WWII the rebuild has spread the city centre, the public transport system is good for getting around you just need to do some research on the routes and methods.
I'll close off now and I am sure that Kaz will be back on line for the next installment

Niyati Imagination, Barcelona and Heart are my favourites. Imagination is crazy, but so cool, it's like one of those nuts drmeas that get stranger and stranger. I love the idea of playing Pool-Golf. The composition of Heart is really nice, it creates quite a calming feel because of the water and sounded shapes and then you have this heart that really stands out. I like how the white and black pebbles turn into speakers under the water, I'd like to know more about why some are white and some are black and the way they are kind of separated under the water.
