Left la louviere around 10 after taking time to actually learn about the car properly. Changed gps to "Aussie Ken", as thought he might know the way better than "Pommie Serena". Straight roads to Cologne as motorway all the way. Going over borders is very different to 30 yrs ago with just a road sign marking the change in country. Stephen feeling very confident driving but realized when we got to Cologne the motorway had lulled him into a false sense of security. Adding trams to the mix made it all the more hairy. At one stage we were trying to turn left but lost the road and were heading towards to tram stop in the centre of the road, luckily we found the road in the nick of time. Checked onto little hotel and skyped kids then caught tram into town. Very interesting day as it was the gay pride parade. I've never seen so many ugly lesbians in one place. The trannies put them to shame! Anyway certainly a lot of entertainment and we note there are no street drinking laws in Germany. Went to the Dom ( cathedral) and what a magnificent structure, to think it is nearly 500 yrs old. Had a bite to eat and first real German beer-magnificent. Wandered around then back to hotel to catch up on emails etc. Went to a local bar at night full of 60+ year olds all drinking tiny beers. Stephen had to have big ones as only 2 mouthfuls in the glass for him.

Di Deering Great read! Made me laugh at times- getting strange looks from people in the hairdressers! Glad your having a great tlme! Sounds like your livers will be pickled by the time you get back to oz!
Judy Taylor Well hello there travellers, sounds like your having a wonderful time. This has been my first opportunity to send a message, as things have been a little hectic here at work. Anywho, I've enjoyed all the stories and photos and Karen you have inspired me to purchase that piano accordion for Mark. Perhaps that will be the next Christmas day entertainment, Mark singing dirty ditties for Shirley - what the !!!!!. - Aaron and Sam came over for dinner last night (Tuesday 10th July), they both look well and seem to be plodding along nicely. Mark is riding his bike to Darwin in a couple of weeks. What a journery, not my cup of tea. I'm going to fly up and meet him in Darwin for few days. Got myself cheap flights for $165 each way, so should be a nice little break from the cold weather. - Must get back to it, love to all, Jude
