Stephen and Jo Planet Earth...
Kanchanaburi fomous for "The Bridge over the River Kwai", we decided to get the train from Bangkok which was a pleasant 3 hour trip, except for the seating (a wooden bench) which gave you a sore a**e after about 10 mins. We went to the Railway Museum first so we could get the low down on the railway and bridge, then we visited the war cemetary and finally to the JEATH war museum. Day 2 saw us on a day trip to the local waterfall and hot springs (very refreshing) and a walk through Hell Fire Pass and museum - it's amazing how the POW's built this railway under the conditions they had to endure. We then caught the train on the only part of the track left for 30 mins to "The Bridge", it was heaving but a good photo opportunity.
