Day 130 - Friday 9th July
A wicked place on the pacific set around a beautiful horseshoe shaped bay. It was Kieran the Irishman's 33rd birthday and this gave me great pleasure. Headed up the coast to Playa Madeira and found HUGE surf. Some serious pros out there we kinda struggled and after whacking my head with the board and producing rather a large bump behind my ear we called it a day. Oli finally caught us up having been stuck in Panama and then we had a big night out to celebrate Kieran's birthday...
Day 131 - Saturday 10th July
Slow day of watching football, chilling and eating. In the evening Kieran and I headed out on a turtle watching tour. Walking around a pitch black beach with red-lights we were almost left unrewarded when a very rare Black Pacific turtle crawled out of the sea and started digging it's nest up in the dry sand. Awesome. But not as good as sloths.
Day 132 - Sunday 11th July
World Cup Final day. I put on my Costa Rica top as it was the nearest thing to Spain's colours I could find. It was all going great until a power cut hit the WHOLE town!! Luckily one bar had a generator and literally everyone piled in there for an amazing atmosphere. Iniesta scored in the 116th minute and the whole place went WILD!! Spent the rest of the day reading and came across an American in our hostel who had a conversation with my English friend Helen that went as thus:
American: hey, so where are you from?
Helen: er, England. You?
A: America. Soo, what language do they speak over there?
H: Um...sorry?
A: Yeah what language do they speak?
H: English
A: What like American English??
Unbelievable. The cheek.
