Steph and Stevens travels!
Hello everyone!
We jumped out of a plane today!!!!! It was awesome but let us tell it from the start.
We woke up yesterday in Taupo to yet more rain so of course the skydive was cancelled and we had a morning of sitting on the sofas - something which we have become very good at recently lol! However the weather cleared up in the afternoon to gorgeous sunshine but they still cancelled our skydive as apparently there was too much cloud still. So instead we went and played crazy golf (which Steven won) and then Steven had a go at a hole in one where the hole was on an island 111 yards into the lake. If you got it in you got $5000. Unfortunately Stevens ball went straight into the water lol! We then went for a walk to the natural hotsprings and had a swim in them which was really nice - the stream was like sitting in bathwater! We went out for tea to celebrate Stevens dads birthday lol and then we went and had a few games of pool which I nearly beat Steven at but I potted the white and the black at the same time =( I am still gutted!
This morning was a very early morning as we were scheduled to do our skydive at 7am and it was a perfect day for it!!! No backing out this time. When we got there we we had to sign the usual form saying that if we died it wasn't their fault lol and then we got into our very sexy jump suits and harnesses. There were lots of scary notices on the harnesses and the parachutes saying that even if they were packed correctly, made right, in perfect condition etc they still might not open causing 'serious injury or death'. We then all piled into the smallest plane ever - we were all crammed in on these little benches. Also me and Steven were nowhere near each other as his instructor was the co pilot so he was right at the front and I was right at the back where the door was. So I had to worry on my own and I was getting pretty nervous but Steven was fine! Thats what he says anyway lol! I had to go second and Steven went last. The freefall was amazing - we fell for 7,000ft at 120mph which took 45 seconds before he pulled the cord for the parachute to open. When it did (much to our relief) we slowed right down and it went so quiet. The view was absolutely amazing and we just floated to the ground. Steven was told that his landing was excellent but my instructor laughed at me so I don't think it was quite as good lol but we didn't fall over!
After this we ditched the kiwi bus and travelled to Rotorua by inter-city bus because the next kiwi bus doesn't leave till Saturday and we couldn't wait that long. Rotorua seems a nice place but very smelly (of sulphur) because of all the volcanic stuff about. We have booked in to do rafting tomorrow morning hopefully lol.
Love Steph and Steven xx
