Day 43-46
We loved Wanaka!! It was a quaint little town with loads of little boutique shops, bars and restaurants which were surrounded by amazing views of the mountains and lake Wanaka, we spent most of our time here doing walks which included climbing mt iron - this wasn't particularly fun as it was just a mission uphill for about an hour! Our legs were abit stiff the next day! Lol. The lake was stunning so we relaxed after the walks by just sitting at the bars on the lake - it was probably one of the most relaxing places we've been so far!
Our apartment there was amazing too! So we we're able to cook some nice food (chicken fried rice, and creamy bacon and mushroom pasta - slimming world friendly of course)
The laundry facilities were free! (Usually 8 Dollars for a wash and dry in a hostel) so we were able to get fully up to date with the laundry for free which was a bonus!
We are now in Queenstown which is one of the more lively and bigger towns on the South Island and yesterday was my cheat day so we took a break from hiking and went out for breckie where I had a massive cinnamon bun (feel like I'm turning into my Mum eating these as she's partial to one every morning from Starbucks!) Since Wellington mine and jakes new favourite desert is pumpkin pie! It's sad to think of all the pumpkin I've thrown away each Halloween when I could of been making these beauties! Anyway if you haven't tried it I recommend you do!
We then went to the cinema so jake could watch the new Thor movie and I could sit and scoff and then last night we went OUT OUT!! This was exciting as I actually had a shower (even though they are minging in this hostel), straightened my hair and got dressed up (haven't done this for a while) lol and we found a bar that did a vodka Diet Coke and a pint for 10 dollars! (Around £5-6!) so jake was happy with that and we ended up staying in there! we then stumbled back to the hostel via dominos pizza and a shop for some cheesy Doritos and chocolate, scoffed that and then passed out! Feel like I need to drink more often as it does help me sleep better when we're in minging hostels! Lol
Today we are doing a big hike up to the Ben Lomond summit (need to burn off what I ate yesterday) and then tomorrow morning we are going canyoning! Which we are both nervous and excited about! and then we are walking up queenstown hill in the afternoon! So we have a busy few days before we leave here on Friday!
I don't really think there's much else to report, jakes currently watching the England game whilst I'm writing this and then I'm going to pack our lunch for today (I'm back on slimming world) so I'm on a tin of tuna with cracker bread and fruit and jakes on tuna sandwiches and crisps! Our friends we met in Australia are heading to queenstown today so we will probably end up out for drinks with them either tonight or tomorrow night!
I've also been making us play Christmas songs in the car over the last few days so we can start to get into the Christmas spirit! As it doesn't feel like Christmas when it's so sunny!
Hope your all ok and not to cold! Lol
I'll post some pics now - lots of love xxx

Maurice and Margaret Lloyd Nice informative blog. You do tell a good, interesting story. We do enjoy them. Canyoning videos were brilliant. I bet the water was freezing. The zip wire and abseiling looked exciting. I have not done either. Love to you both. M and M xxxxxx
