Saturday 26th October - 31st October 2013
We got up extremely early to leave for the airport about 4 am it was very painful! But we got to the airport and to Cairns with no dramas except a free upgrade to the emergency exit seats. Extra foot space!
We arrived in Cairns and we headed to Crystal Cascades to enjoy the cool waters which is always enjoyable. We also headed over to Behana Creek and spent some time with Chelsea's family as well. We went into town for drinks with Alex to Gilligans.
On Sunday we headed to Josephine Falls, which was beautiful creek with giant boulders to sun bake on! There also was a little slide to go down one of the falls which was fun even if it did hurt your bum a little going down!
Monday we headed to Fitzroy Island, it was a beautiful day and we boarded to boat first thing in the morning. Fitzroy was beautiful, turquoise water and golden sandy beaches it was perfect! Stu and I made a big mistake falling asleep in the sun, we got REALLY burnt! It was actually pink and very painful!
We used a ton of chilled after sun from the fridge when we got home!
Tuesday we spent the day going back and forth picking up Ant and Kate and Lant and Aish! We grabbed some lunch in town and caught up of all the news from back at home and what we had all been doing the past year! We spent the afternoon playing ball down at Behana Creek before heading back for dinner and board games!
Wednesday we drove up North to Mossman Gorge for a dip, but not before I had the most horryfing scream. One of Chelsea's famous spider screams. She was too scared to get the bags out the back so I went to grab them and see how 'big' the spider was. IT WAS HUGE! Possibly the BIGGEST coolest huntsman I have ever seen!
When we arrive in Mossman the water was really cold, colder than I remember! We enjoyed jumping off the rocks and cooling down. When I was climbing down one rock a fish (I assume a fish) thought my foot was food and bit it! I have never screamed so loudly! I had the bite mark for a week after that!
We carried on up North to Port Douglas, where we had a barramundi burger, YUM! We visited the popular wedding venue the church that over looks the beach and sea. We then spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach playing cricket and swimming.
Thursday we drove up to Kuranda and I had a shopping spree and brought a lot of souvenirs for my future house that I will own one day! Stu had a go at the didgeridoo it was amusing to listen to! We then did a driving tour around the tablelands stopping at all of the waterholes (waterfalls!) It was beautiful the countryside, full of farms and tiny townships where I got an amazing apple turnover! YUMMY!!
We stopped at Lake Echam which is a volcano crater filled with water! It was extremely deep, which I didn't quite enjoy! It was huge and very beautiful surroundings!
We also stopped at a giant fig tree with vines going all over the place, very tarzan-est! There was also a sign for tree kangaroos, which we didn't see any!
We finished the day off at Josephine Falls again before heading back to Chelsea's house to get ourselves organised for Hamilton Island!
