Today was mainly a travel day. we got up when our heads had cleared and set off on our way to franz josef. It was THE hilliest/mountain-est roads i have ever been on. they never ended. most of the corners were that steep we had to take them at 15km/h! some poor b***** got a flat mid way up...ooops! i would have stopped and offered my help but the car had that little power i dont think we would have set off again!! We all took it in turns to drive again, altho i think lou or toni jinxed it. when we left queenstown (i was driving) it was beautiful weather! however, later on the journey when toni was driving i woke up and it was miserable!! having said that it did look pretty cool seeing the mountains covered in mist and rain, it was really eary(??). We stopped at one place to swop drivers and there were thousands of little sand flys. by the time we had set off again they had taken over the car! We arrived here at 6pm ish i think, checked in and then went out. We went and bought some food for the next day and then had tea somewhere. it wasnt great but did the job. After such an exciting day... i was shattered and so had an early night ready for the challenge ahead tomoz...
