Sunday 29th Jan We were up early and checked out of the hostel to enable us to check into our morning adventure... a hike up the franz josef glacier. There were different types of hikes we could have chosen but we decided on the half day walk. We got geared up (they provided socks, boots, crampons, waterproof trousers, water proof jacket, wooly hat and gloves. lucky they did as i turned up in shorts and flip flops! It was THE hilliest/mountain-est roads i have ever been on. they never ended. most of the corners were that steep we had to take them at 15km/h! some poor b***** got a flat mid way up...ooops! i would have stopped and offered my help but the car had that little power ...
