My European Escapades
Yesterday after updating our journal we hopped on the bus for our longest trek - a five hour trip to get us down to Killarney. We saw some unbelieveable countryside, so beautiful that I took almost a whole roll of film of pictures of our drive. The bus even went on one of those huge ferry's to cross the Shannon River, and we passed through Tralee to catch the bus the rest of the way. We stayed at Neptune's hostel, our first hostel that's in the middle of all the action (the Doolin hostel was out in the middle of nowhere because Doolin is the middle of nowhere). It's really big and there's free internet, YAY!
After a nice dinner, we made the 7km trek down to the national park and hiked through the trails to see Muckross Lake, and the Manor, as well as the lovely Torq Waterfall, where we climbed the rocks to get better pictures.
However, since our roundtrip was over 14 km... I have the biggest blisters on my pinky toes. No joke, they cover my entire toe. My shoes really need some help. Once we got back the Neptune's, Shirlea dressed my throbbing feet and I felt so exhausted but insisted we go out for a drink (Josh had already fallen asleep, so it was an impromptu ladies' night!). I walked down there with socks and sandals, I looked like a huge idiot. After a couple drinks, I felt much better -ha, ha- and we found a huge dance club in the back of our pub, so we danced for a few hours with some Marines that happened to be there.
At 9:30 we head to Cork to meet back up with Steve and Mike from school, and since we haven't found Shirlea's bus pass.... somebody (probably Josh) will wind up finishing their trip with the boys because it's costing 20ish Euro everytime Shirlea takes the bus without the pass. Yikes!
