Fri 28th was a slow start for the boys, who were given some respite and Claire wanted Mummy to take her shopping. We thought we would go to the biggest stores in Paris - Galleries Lafayette and Printemps, both of which proved to be rather more pricey than our purses. We ended up only buying 2 tops each, but felt there was more to conquer next time given more days in Paris. Richard and Rory had a late breakfast and caught up on Facebook while Miles headed to the bar across the road for a leisurely café au lait (well, two actually). The boys were given instructions to meet at the entrance to the Louvre at 12 midday sharp. But which entrance? After some 10 texts and 4 phone calls we finally managed to all arrive at the same entrance at the same time. (Grrr).
This was another lightning raid - the Mona Lisa, the Winged Victory and the Venus de Milo. The crowds were relentless and very, very tiring. After another late'ish lunch (I highlight 'late'ish' as the later the lunch the more the stress), we walked across to the Ile de la Cite where we spent some time in Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle. We popped onto the Metro to visit a famous macaroon shop called Le Duree before arriving, tired again, to our hotel.
Claire chose a lovely restaurant for dinner (although she needs to understand a travel budget!). Chefs in high chef's hats served gourmet French food while Mummy and Daddy enjoyed a nice Medoc red. We credit carded that one!
We think we have done Paris! It has certainly worked hard on us! The weather was kind to us as it's been everywhere, actually. We had a little drizzle for 1-2 hours on Thur morning in Paris but had cloudy or sunny days. Today dawned a little dismally, but we were travelling so no issues to us.
