Ok, I have not mentioned this before because I usually far over-talk how much we walk, because we ARE enthusiastic walkers. But I'm just saying, we are walking our butts off. I have not even asked Stan how he is holding up, but my butt is sore, my ankles ache and my shins even hurt. I'm not sure how he is feeling but sometimes as we are walking back to the cottage I think I hear him whimpering. It is hot here. I mean August Florida Panhandle Beach hot which makes it feel like more than a stroll to get us to the nearest bus or tram. I for one can accept all this because I know the exercise is good for us, but I cannot help whining. It's hard and it's hot!! I want a cab!
Today after sleeping to 7 am - thank you, Lord for the pleasure of having our days and nights back in order, we did our morning exercise in the wonderful park. Everyone was out playing sports or just enjoying the park. Get this; we met a young man who was roasting a whole pig on a split. He said he had only 4 more hours to go to feed his party - some amateur rugby or cricket team, no doubt. He welcomed us to join.
Afterward the walk, we made a wonderful breakfast of oatmeal, and an egg scramble. Our shareable egg scrambles are truly remarkable: sautéed ham, coarse chopped mushrooms, chopped Roma tomato and 4 beaten free range eggs topped with fresh shredded cheese and avocado slices. UNBELIEVABLE! I think we could sell this stuff!
Then, off to Wayville Market. Everyone said it just off the tram stop. We decided to walk. Geesh! Quite a stroll!! By the time we arrived home, my feet felt like they were in torture devices—hot and TIRED! Ok, I diverse. Once we arrived at the market, we had a wonderful time. Unlike our experience at the Central Market, this one fit my mind's eye of what a market should be. Very nice! And after hearing us even say hello, everyone we spoke with said . . . "Ah, you must be traveling. Where are you from?" I can't imagine why. But just like so many other places in the world we have visited, they loved having visitors from America and they treated us well. They invited us to taste their wares and even sent us home with gifts. They gave us figs, cheese and apricot samples and treated us to a sack of Nasi's which are small fruits that seem to be a cross between apple and pear, very crisp, sweet and delicious. We did make a purchase of a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from a very nice young woman representing the boutique winery, Wangolina Station. We also tasted Elderflower drink which was heavenly. We did not buy any though since we had no way to get it home to Atlanta; and it was far too sweet to drink at once, and far too much to try to cart it around for the rest of our trip.
In the evening, we walked back to Rymill Park to take in the Fringe Festival presentation, "3," featuring a group of three magicians - a mentalist, a slight-of-hand artist and an influencer. It was fun and very entertaining. The venue was called Gluttony and stages were thus named Pig Tales, The Runt, Pig Pen, and Piglet. We also learned the interpretation of "Fringe." The festival is so named because the artists and performers have not yet made the big-time but are on the fringe of doing so. Fringe's purpose is to provide opportunity for showcasing and encouragement to budding artists - and for thousands of people to get to see the talent that is out there.
Tomorrow, Glenelg Beach.
