We have returned to Beachfront resort after the week in Tata Presbyterian School and happy to have had a hot shower after a week of cold water. We believe it has gone as good as we assumed God wanted.
We were especially excited today that 7/8 staff members shared morning tea with us after a week of just Principal David sharing it with us and for dinner there was just him or one other. It took a meal or two to realise that they would wait for us to start eating then arrive and then wait for us to finish before serving their own meal but only after we invited them to share what's left. However, these meal times were probably favourite times of finding/sharing about our lives and how the cultures were different or similar in some ways.
The rest of the week was spent like Tues with waking up at 5.30am…or 3am with the roosters…to have breakfast by ourselves at 6.30am. Then 7.30 start to teach in two blocks for two classes, 1 hr each. Half hour break before another two hrs from 10am til lunch. This was a good break for 1.5hr before teaching another 2 hrs before students finish then we did teacher training until 5.30 pm each day except for Wednesday when the time was spent in sport for secondary classes in either volley ball or soccer.
Thursday evening a feast was put on for a farewell but they were also happy to be able to use it as a welcome feast too for another Peace Corp person from USA, who plans to do 2 years duty, who arrived same day. The chairman of the school board was there to give the speeches of welcome and lovely farewell to us and especially thanking St Andrews for the staff shirts. His daughter had returned home boasting at how good the staff at Tata had looked in their shirts their first day of wearing them. So he was especially excited when we told him we had shirts for the board too. The feast included all staff and their families to attend so the tables were loaded up with all the tradition foods (& thankfully not so traditional foods!). By the end there did’t seem to be anything left….they are good eaters!!!
Andrew & I are especially thankful for Gods leading at Tata and can see how He is blessing both schools at once.
