What a difference a day makes ! The sun has been shining and our moods have been lifted. After a little panic over the little camera and its loss, now resolved we left at about 10:20. We headed over to Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens as this was the quickest way to the city centre. Well I say that but we have two small children who have a homing instinct for play parks. We managed to persuade them not to paddle but they had a really good play on the other equipment. David and I had coffee and I called Vicky for a chat.
On the way through the park we stopped and played with the interactive water feature and then look at the Caravan Sculpture which the girls really loved. When we reached town there was such a buzz going on; there were artists, market stalls, performances and everyone was really happy. We spent some time in the market and watching the street performances before we headed up to the i-site in Cathedral Square to buy tram and punt tickets. After buying the tickets we walked back to the punting place and booked our trip for 2:30. We then went for lunch at the coffee stop which was surprising reasonable. While there I had two ladies talk to me as a result of the girls hair. At about this time we realised that Alex was embracing her inner Kiwi as she refused to wear her shoes for the remainder of the afternoon.
After lunch we headed back to the punting place. Our trip on the punt was so relaxing until a voice started to say wee wee. She then started squeezing and then she weed on me, I thought I was safe from more after that but no she decided to do another wee on me before we got back. The punt gave us a lovely view of the town and it was a nice relax in the middle of the day. After the punt we walked back to the Cathedral Square and Alex and I went to the toilets to clean up. In the square was a pipe band competition which may have been OK but three bands were playing at one time. Alex just loved listening and dancing to the music. After a while we got onto the tram and took the tour through the city. It was a lovely way to see the main sites without being too worn out. It was only marred by being sprayed by a water gun from a passing car who were described by the driver as a stupid woman and two bloody twits. We did a circuit and a bit so we ended back at the park.
In the park we let the girls have a good paddle and they ended up as wet to really wet but happy with it. We are now back at the motel, the girls have had the last bounce on the trampoline and we are waiting for the dryers to finish our washing ready to finish the packing.
