Today we checked out and left our luggage in the motel office. The day was very grey and uninviting so we just walked into the town and on the way popped into a clothes shop. I fell as we came out as it was very slippy. I did not find a replacement T-shirt here but I did in the main town.
The first visit was to the small museum which although interesting reminded me a little of a junk shop with a hotch potch of everything all over the place. It really was a snap shot of local life as it was. Amazingly they had a manual telephone exchange until. I think, 1985.
We took the girls onto a very wet and stoney beach and they played happily making mud pies while we chatted to an older lady who was very nice.
We arrived at the station very early as there was little else to do with the time and had a coffee in the café. A very strange experience as two people David knows, Jenny and Dave walked in. They had arrived early so had decided to change their tour time and so just random luck to see them.
Stood on the platform waiting for the train and got talking to Ken and Christine from Tuttle Hill, yes that's right Nuneaton.
Elizabeth slept for most of the journey and Alex read magazines.
Christchurch station - nightmare !
Pick up went smoothly and the motel is again clean and basic.
