- Weather Windy Rainy
The weather on this trip has not been our friend at all. On Lake Michigan the wind predominately comes out of the west, and makes the sea conditions on the Wisconsin side the better choice. Today's wind and the next several days has the wind coming out of the south. This will make for a bumpy ride. The good thing is for the most part it will be on our bow.
When we left Manistique the seas were 1- 2 feet, and not bad at all. As we turn into Green Bay it got even better. By the time we got to Washington Island the bay was like glass. We also moved from Eastern Standard Time to Central Standard Time.
Coming into Green Bay was breath taking. The islands at the top of the bay were green lush islands with white beaches, (I am not sure if they are sand or stone, but I think stone) and cliffs that rise out of the water. At one point I was 100 feet off an island with over 125 feet of water. Coming around the island the water went from 120 feet to 25 feet in less than a minute, then five minutes later we were back in 120 feet of water.
Shipyard marina was a small (And I mean SMALL) family run marina. They did not have a slip big enough for Nothing To Plunder, so we stayed in the Haul Out Well. This is where they pull the boats out of the water with the travel lift. (Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures) The only downside was there was only a single 30 amp shore power connection. We normally use a single 50 amp connection or two 30 amp connections. The staff tried very hard to get us more power, but it did not work. By limiting what we used on the boat at any given time, we were able to make it work. We were lucky that it was not hot, and we were able to get by with limited air conditioning. Plus we were only staying one night.
Washington Island has a very nice lavender farm that we toured, then we went to dinner at Nelsen's Hall Bitter Pub. We were looking forward to the Prime Rib, only offered on Saturday's. We were very disappointed to find out, they did not have any. Nelsen's Hall claim to fame, is the "Bitter's Club: to join you have to do a shot of Bitter's. None of us were willing to try it.
Sunday Morning we plan to go Cedar River and meet up with Steve and Jane (Sabbatical).
