Nicolet Bay is a small bay near Ephraim WI, there are not any marina's in Nicolet, just a very nice anchorage right in front of Peninsula State Park. Nicolet Bay is surrounded by bluffs with caves on one side, and low lying forest on the other. The bottom is a mix of sand and clay, giving it great holding power for the anchor. (This was fully tested by the time we left.)
Wednesday we explored the bay by dinghy. We also went "shopping" by dinghy at the state park. The camp store was not the best place to shop, but it was our only choice. We grilled dinner on the boat. Dinner was chicken and stuffed Patty Pan Squash, which we bought from the farm we visited in Sister Bay. While the Patty Pan Squash was easy to cook, it was pretty tasteless. After dinner Steve & Jane (Sabbatical) came by dinghy to join us for cocktails on our boat.
Thursday we explored the bay some more, and attempted to bring the dinghy to shore so we could explore the caves on the bluffs, but the shoreline was all boulders. There was now where safe to leave it.
The highlight of Nicolet Bay was Northern Sky Theatre. It is an outdoor theatre, which was playing the musical "Whatever Happened To Karl Jenko". Steve, Jane, Angel and I took our dinghy's over and went to the show. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip so far.
Shortly after returning to our boat and going to bed, the anchor alarm went off. (Anchor alarm lets me know if the boat moves more than a set distance from our anchor point.) Checking the alarm, it shown we did not drag our anchor, but we did swing 180 degrees from where we started. The winds had picked up and we were swinging wildly on the anchor. While it made for a rough night, I knew the anchor was holding strong. By morning the wind died, and we were back to where we started.
Leaving Nicolet Bay we are going to Egg Harbor, WI. We will be anchoring in the harbor, because the marina does not have any slips available.

John Reynolds Scott, Anchor alarm good to have. My sailboat grounded at Block Island RI during the night at anchor with no alarms. It was 1974!!
