Yes we are dragging our feet we only traveled 9 miles today. We could have easily have skipped Chesapeake City and gone straight to Delaware City but there were two reasons for stopping here. First we made plans to meeting John here to go out to dinner. I am the captain of John's boat Sea Fox and we were meeting him here to go to Schaefer's for dinner. John wanted to see us and meet Mark & Karen (Kay Dee). He has been following the blog, and they may have been mentioned in it a time or two.
We left early to try to get room of the free city dock for both of our boats. The city dock only has about 150 feet of dockage, that allows you to stay for free for 24 hours. There has been a sail boat in the middle of the dock for over a week, supposedly they are staying there waiting on repairs. When we first looked into going there the sailboat was in the middle of the dock barely leaving room for one other boat. The city was nice enough to have the move to one end of the dock making room for both of us. We both got on the dock, it was a very tight fit, with Kay Dee's anchor sitting over our dinghy, but it worked. While we were finishing up securing our boats, another boater came by asking if we were getting ready to leave. Had we arrived 5 minutes later we would have had to gone to Plan B or Plan C. (Anchor out with no Air-conditioning, or go to the marina right there and pay for dockage). Either one of them would have worked, but free docks are better.
While we were docked we watched as several loopers passed Chesapeake City and a few others came into the anchorage. We had met one of the couples Jon & DeeDee (War Eagle) last summer in Michigan and they had meet Mark & Karen a few times. They came over to Kay Dee for docktails. As we were having our docktails, Foster, the local Harbor Host stopped by. Foster is a Gold Looper from 2019 and try's to stop and visit loopers as they pass through. John also joined us for docktails and a toast before heading to the restaurant for dinner.
We had a great time at dinner telling John all of our stories from our travels. Hopefully we did not bore him too much. My next mission is convince him to do the loop.
Our loop is very quickly coming to an end. Friday around 5:30pm we will arrive back in Bordentown.
One more stop to go, our next and last stop is Delaware City.
