It was another great day on the water we had a short run of 29 miles. There was even more boats on the water today and a lot of them were sail boats. While sail boats have never waked us they are the "stand on vessel" which means we have to move around them. It is not a big deal, but it does mean that I have to turn off the autopilot, and steer around them. I have gotten very lazy on the bay, the autopilot does 90% of the steering.
We chose Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbor (BBYH) to meet up with friends of ours Gene & Caroline. They use to be our neighbors when we spent our winters in Philadelphia Marine Center, and now they keep their boat here year round. It was really great to pull up to the dock and see them waiting on the dock to great us. One other good thing about BBYH is the price of their fuel, it is $5.78. It is a shame that we are happy to see $5.78 for fuel. Mark & Karen (Kay Dee) are even planning on stopping here after they leave Bordentown Yacht Club.
BBYH is a low key quite marina, they do have a pool and a small beach, but the pool is not open yet. The pool was supposed to be open by Memorial Day, but one of the contractors has not shown up several times, putting the other contractors behind.
Gene & Caroline had to go to work on Tuesday so they were kind enough to let us use their truck. We took the truck to Chesapeake City to visit the C&D Canal Museum. We could have waited until we got there by boat, but it was something to do. I have been coming to Chesapeake City for 20 years, and I have never been able to go to the museum. It is only open during the week and I normally was there on the weekends. When we leaving the museum Karen (Kay Dee) looked to see where Ed & Cathy (Just Another Day) were and found they were about to enter Chesapeake Inn Marina. We headed over to meet them at the dock. It was great to see them again. That is one of the great things about the loop, you cross paths with people time and time again. Even when you think you are not going to see someone again, they pop up at the next stop.
After Ed & Cathy docked, Bill & Pat (Uno Mas) docked right next to them. We first "met" them while we were doing our Gulf Crossing. As we were starting our crossing they radioed us asking if they could join our group for the crossing. It was nice to meet them in person, and we all headed up for lunch.
Back at the boat, I reached out to Gene to see if they were home from work yet, and sadly he and Caroline's car broke down and they were stuck on I95. They were waiting for a tow truck, Angel and I went and picked them up. Hopefully their car gets fixed quickly.
Our next stop is Chesapeake City, which is only about 10 miles from here, It is a really short day, but we are meeting John from Sea Fox there for dinner.
