I got up and had a great breakfast again. Mandelise and I left about 9.30 to get the tube to Belem. A really nice neighbourhood where we saw the tower of Belem, the presidential palace, a monastery, a great view of the bridge and some other monuments. Also it is the home of the traditional pastel de nata, so we bought 2 from the shop. They came in a posh box and we we opened it later there were 3 in the box!
We then got the train to Cascais, a nice seaside town. It was great to relax on the beach and to be able to go for a swim. The water was freezing! Very different in the Atlantic. I managed to get used to it and swim around a bit.
After getting the train back to the centre we wenr different ways as we wanted to explore different areas. I had a walk around a beautiful park, another church and the saw the Parliament building.
I walked back to the hostel and said bye to Mandelise who was leaving.
I spent the evening eating delicious free soup, having a walk in the centre and talking to some people in the hostel.

Daf Red roads and churches built in the sea some interesting photos. Good surprise to find 3 custard tart and not 2 Nice to have someone to explore with, strange name though- Mandelise Have you had the sardines yet - people say they are very good.
Caryn Nice set of photos again, and what a bonus to get an extra custard tart! Swimming in the Atlantic must have been a shock to your system after the temperatures you've been used to - well done for going in though, Grandma would be proud! xxx
