Matt and Ant's Travels
Hi,
Sorry this is the first post in a while but we've been really busy in the last few days. Since I left Trinidad we've been to Miami and LA which I'll tell you about as it was so much fun! In Miami we only had enough time to go shopping in a massive shopping mall, if I had more time could have spent a fortune as all the shops were so cheap there. We then got to the airport and found our flight was delayed which meant we missed our connecting flight in Atlanta. The airline put us up in quite a nice hotel for the night and bought us dinner for our inconvenience which was nice but still meant we lost half a day in LA, meaning we had to fit everything into a smaller amount of time.
On arriving in LA we rented a car for the 3 days we were there to save on taxi's, American cars really aren't all that! This was the first left hand drive car i've driven and also the first time driving on the right side of the road, a bit of an experience! I'll be glad to get home and drive the little punto on the correct side of the road!
In our first day there we visited the OC and waded in the beach, Newport beach and Laguna Beach (both in the OC) where we found a sushi restaurant and a little old school bar which was quite nice but just about everyone in the bar was amazed to hear our accents and try to guesss where we're from! The next day we went to Wild Rivers a massive water park which was a lot of fun and when it got too busy we left for a shopping/food village close by where we could sit and watch a live band play.
On Monday we visited the vast parks of disneyland (there are 2 right next to each other), they were mainly for kids but still a good experience and the day was finished off with one of the best fireworks displays i've seen for a very long time! On our final day before we boarded the plane for Tonga in the evening we spent cruising through Hollywood, visited the Oscars theatre and the walk of fame, even stopping to place my hands in Arnie's handprints outside the chinese theatre. We then cruised down Sunset boulevard and route66 finally taking a walk down Rodeo Drive just like Julia Robwerts in Pretty Woman. Despite driving around beverly hills for a while we were unable to spot any stars in the street, maybe next time!
Sorry about the length of this post but there is so much to update. I hope you are all keeping well
Anni - Hope the cruise is going OK, we're looking for a Tonga sim card later today as my phone doesn't work here. I'll email you and post the number here, miss u so much x
