Hi Bron and Andrew
Haven't heard from you recently - must be all the mad last minute rush? Only a few days to go till you fly out!
We are leaving Addis tomorrow, Fri. 08/06, and plan to enter Kenya around 14th June via the Omo Valley/Lake Turkana route. Might spend around 5 days there. Will you guys head through Nairobi after you get Gnu released from Mombasa? If so maybe we could meet up there around 21st June (or as soon as you can get there?) say at Jungle Junction Camp as we may need to do our immigration and customs proceedures in Nairobi as no Kenyan border control on our above route. Then we could head back west together for a few days on your way to Lake Victoria/Uganda before we head south to Tanz. If you NOT going through Nairobi maybe we could meet somewhere between Lake Vic and Lake Turkana - e.g. Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu etc???
Let us know as soon as you can your plans and also your contact details and good luck - you gonna need it - Africa's no place for sissies ;-)

Hi you two - thanks for the email - just going to forget the whole tax disc thing - hey one less thing to worry about! (Marvellous). Two weeks to go and its getting close and tight! Eish
Our plans: We fly from London to Mombasa on the 11th June, land 12th. Probably in Mombasa that night and then up to Lamu for a few days to chill and then back to Mombasa to pick up Gnu around the 20th. After/at Mombasa, we need to find a Landy garage to fix bonnet pull - snapped off when loading into container - we are loaded with fuel and food already - just need some fresh bits & water and ready to roll. Will straight thru Nairobi and up to Uganda, Rwanda - not sure what your route plans are but if you are up for scouting around Lake Victoria with us for a week or so, then would be great to catch up and you can show us how its done ;! Back into Kenya through Sereng.). Otherwise zigzag about Malawi/Tanz/etc to Zambia/Zim - Andrew fishing with Alex on Zambezi mid Aug. Other than that we are fluid. Andrew flies back to London 1st Sept. so need to be back in South a week before then. Will bomb south after fishing to Oudtshoorn.
Not sure on comms yet - will keep you posted. Plan to get phone sorted this week and will post details.
Hope you are still having fun! Drive safe and see you soon. B x

Dear Inga& Rob,
just returned from a great weekend on Zanzibar and need to let you know you HAVE to see this island when you're in Tanzania; have a look at a few pics on www.kopkof.com & if you want to realy treat yourself drive to the Michamvi Peninsula and book yourself in a night at breezes (www.breezes-zanzibar.com) It is worth every penny!
Am currently in Dar es Salaam- bit of an anti- climax after Zanzibar, am not impressed (let me know if you find "the place to be in Dar" when you're here ) Will be leaving to Nairobi later- take care and all the best from Tanzania.
Gunt.
Nochmal Wir

Hey Burt & Shminga
You will be happy to know that I have started to read that Paul Theroux and enjoying it - trying to say just ahead of your trip - watch out for the Shifta with guns on the side of the road. Gosh those first 2 chapters sux - you okes were right about that one, give it a skip!
Things are good here... weather is warm for May (not quite 40 degree like you yours) but comfortable. Still surfin in boardies. Planning to go down to visit Shannon, Ro, Gordon, and Jules soon. As you probably know Jules and Gordon have a new little one a few months back. Wedding plans are coming along. Your visa's are going to take a few months to organise (they say around 2 months) in SA so hoping that you have enough time to sort that one out when you get back - sorry Rob you can't fly in to Switzerland and drive over the boarder this time. You could probably swim from NZ though but I would not recommend it (and we thought Llandudno was cold).
