Not much going on today during the day.
In the evening we went out with the locals who work at the villa. Mardy (19), Kadack (Jessie seems to think that was his name, but it sounded more like Scoddaaay to me) (23) and Mardy's older brother (24/25).
Mardy was telling me that none of the locals on Gili were born there and that they all come from Lombok, the island over, to work. He was also telling me that he goes home once a month back to Lombok to see his family and that he cries because he misses them :(.
On the walk to town, they got some rice wine in a big plastic bottle (very local) and some free popcorn that came along with it, I'm not sure what it is about Asia and free popcorn, but I like it.
When we got to the Irish bar, mardy introduced us to his half-brother who worked at the pizzeria and some of his other friends. We drank rice wine, ate popcorn and danced all night. We moved from off the street to the main dance floor and carried on dancing. A
s the night went on, more and more creepy locals surrounded our group and the general space. Mardy said when the boys go off he must look after us; he helped us by blocking all creepy guys off left right and centre. During the night I got stupidly annoyed a couple times and Scodday just grabbed me, smiled and said don't get mad just chill, such wise words that I will always remember :). They were such cool nice guys and also very good at dancing.
This night was probably one of my favourite nights overall and it was a great way to end the majority of our travels. It is always more fun to mix with locals because you get a better feel of the country you are in!! Walked home at about three o clock and slept like a baby.
