Ola amigos!
So we chilled yesterday during the day and went out for lunch/dinner with Sanchia (the english girl) and then about 5.30pm me and Paddy went out for our run, I tried to persuade Harriet and Sanchia but they both reckoned it would kill them. I had to improvise on gym attire as I had not bought my gym clothes or trainers; Primark beach shorts, a vest top and Vics walking shoes it was! It was almost dark when we set off and we done about 10km in an hour which wasnt bad, especially as we were dodging traffic and people. Luckily Paddy took the lead as I had no idea where we were going, but I got a great buzz from seeing the bustling city at night and at one point we ended up running along a disused rail track and then we ended up in a rather dodgy area and then several Peruvians started trying to run with us, we were like Forest Gump. I dont think Peruvians have seen anyone run before as we attracted a lot of attention. For a smoker, Paddy was a bloody good runner and set a challenging pace which was good! However, my legs are suffering from the inappropriate attire and I am now rather red raw between my thighs and so walking like I have s*** myself. So much for trying to keep up the fitness levels! Haha!
We all chilled and played cards and pool in the bar until late.
8th September
Had a bit of a lie-in. Had free brekkie at the hostel and I got an e-mail saying my card will be delivered by end of Thursday and also a claim number from my insurance company and they have said I can submit all the stuff when I get back which is handy; now I just have to keep it all safe. We are thinking of heading to Ica to do the sandboarding and stuff tomorrow and spending a night there before coming back for 1 night to get my card and then heading off again straight to Nazcar to try and make up for some lost time. Sanchia realised that her passport and Ipod were stolen the other night and her card has been blocked so shes not having much luck either. Me, her and Harriet went out for lunch and had the best meal yet: avocado salad to start, fish and quinoa for main, Peruvian cake and water all for about 2 quid each. I had a nap and then me, Harriet, Sanchia and Paddy mooched to the supermarket. We plan to head out somewhere tonight, but dont think we will be running it.
The weather is similar to at home I think; its about 20c but is permanently cloudy. Lima has its own micro-climate apparently which means it is always hazy. We did get a bit pink one day, but you normally need to wear a cardigan.
I hear we have another royal baby on the way (congratulations if your reading Will) and Scotland are heading for independence and so the Pound has dropped. But I hope you are all having fun back at work and have a great week!

Paul Shame we can't see your current waddle, it sounds as if it would be rather amusing! In your shoes, I'd be desperate to get out of Lima and I'm sure you'll be glad to get to Ica and Nazcar. Sandboarding sounds like fun. Shame Auntie Vic hasn't commented here yet as I enjoy reading her zany contributions!
Fay Alex!! Have just caught up on your blog posts, cant believe what happened to you on your first night!! So glad you have turned things around and are having fun. The hostel manager is going to end up with a fan club, sounds like he was fantastic! The food sounds amazing, i love cerviche! Cant wait to hear about the next part of your adventure and what you will be eating!! Lots of Love xxx ps. Kate is suffering terrible morning sickness again. xxx
Mum Hi Forest, Just a thought but unless they introduce passport pinching into the Olympics maybe the Peruvians should be concentrating on running a bit more! Sounds like you are making the most of your time in Lima but does seem a good idea to have do Ica and sandboarding (look forward to hearing how that goes). Kate, Will and new baby news is nothing on Gary in the big brother house pulling down his trousers to look at his bad knee forgetting that he had no pants on!! That really did cause uproar! All good here in Blighty and hopefully the Scotland business will be sorted soon and the pound will go up again! Love you xx
Auntie vic Fear not Paul I'm here. Ha ha ha Gary's bare arse on a plastic kitchen chair really did cause quite the stir!!!! Bearing in mind white dee benefit queen was televised for a whole series laying on her sofa blowing smoke on her kids actually lost it when he did it. I on the other hand rewound the incident at least eight times it was funny. Also just going to bed last night and Colin adwent popped up on channel 5!!!!! I like the Forrest Gump moment where people started running with you, my shoes have never seen such action.poor sanchia losing her passport and iPod. All good here Luke's second day second week went well.ians following your blog closely. I love it xxxxxxxx love to you both. Any need to use the straw yet?? Xxxxxxx
Jake Hey Al, sounds like you're both having a great time! By the way I like how you're keeping up to date on British politics, very good! Take care and Enjoy!x
Soph Ola sister and Harriet! Glad this are going well minus chaff (I think it's a family trait!) and the continued work of the Peruvian passport pinchers. Looks like you're keeping up on the news more than me, I wasn't aware the pound had dropped (what does that even meannnn?!). Forest gump run sounds very amusing but I'm pretty sure he avoided traffic dodging/dodgy areas/railways, please take note! It's nice you've added some extra amigos to your clan whilst in Lima! Everything is good up north although I had a slight trauma of my own, I opened a box at school to get some plastic wallets out and there was the biggest spider EVER inside. It was looking at me so I ran out screaming and one of the kids had to remove it before I came back in. Good first impression haha. Benny says hello and he's glad you're having lots of fun. Mother isn't being too needy at the moment so don't worry haha. Looking forward to going back this weekend to see everyone but I will miss my 'saturday night' and 'Macarena' dancing partner. Keep having lots of tun and don't read the news, it's boring. Lots of love xx xx
Auntie vic Glad someone else was unaware of the"pound drop"??? It mush be Spanish Soph for a veggie dish???? Omg the spider news is terrifying I'm so sorry. Paul meet Soph she will amuse you. Jan Harriet's cousin enjoying the soap blogs has amused me and I think she's right. New news update..... Luke's out with a new bird tonight?? Will update as I find out more. Any hoo keep up the blogs because we love em. Loves to you both xxxx
Dad Glad all good - and well done for overcoming all your earlier problems. Came fifth in golf at Felixstowe Monday and racing at Leicester yesterday (£10 up!!). Dog walking today. Got to supply three s**t samples over next few days but will spare you the details! Toilet should be mended by weekend (no connection between last two items). Holland beckoning in nine days. Adventure starts now for you and Harriet really - but sounds great fun already. Enjoy. x
Auntie vic Oh my god dad dads 3 s***ter sample??
Paul Enjoying your family's comments as much as your blog, Alex. Best of luck to your Dad with his 3 samples - I trust he'll produce the goods! Very much looking forward to your next blog and Auntie Vic's response. Her few words never fail to make me smile and I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip. Soph would struggle in South America, there are some huge spiders as big as your hand! I assume you've been enjoying yourself so much the last day or two, you haven't had a moment to deposit some blurb here. Don't leave it too long!
