After a week of croissants for breakfast, delightful feast of scrambled eggs/omelette and toast was a welcome change. We started the day by exploring the city downtown the Malecon. The Rio Guayas looked somewhat like chocolate milk, and not the nice drinking variety either. sleep with the modern art museum right next to Las Peñas. The museum had an incredible mix of art media forms, galleries from different artists and some antique/ancient rather stuff too. Next we ventured up the Barrio Las Peñas. This neighbourhood is a colourful artsy neighbourhood with artist's homes turned into museums and workshops open to the public so you can watch the artist at work. After walking through the neighbourhood, we trying to find the music museum but to no avail. We eventually find it after much walking but it was closed. So instead we stopped for empanadas and then visited the Barcelona FC football museum- it was mental! a huge trophy case, crazy music, interactive activities - we need to find ourselves a football game in Buenos Aires or Rio.
On the way back to the hostel (it was hot and yuck), we tried to find dinner stuff at the supermarket, failed, and tried another one after afternoon of beers and flop. Eventually we made an avocado and mushroom pasta, and I managed to speak to someone at LAN (in English) about changing my meal on our Guayaquil->Santiago flight this Friday.
