Today was such a nothing day. The Art Factory Hostel had no room for us when we tried to extend our booking, so we were forced to find another hostel if we wanted to continue our stay in Buenos Aires. And we did. A couple of metro stops away was a hostel called Reina Madre, a very small hostel in a weird crossover zone of Buenos Aires and Recoleta. So the greatest achievement of the day was moving hostels (carrying packs in this heat is definitely an achievement!). After that, I was dead. So Jeremy went out and explored/nearly got lost in the nearby world, even nearly getting his wallet stolen while I slept in the hostel. A few hours later, after he returned with empanadas for lunch and we had hidden indoors from the sun a bit longer, we reemerged and took the Subte into Palermo Soho. Down by the Plaza Serrano there are heaps of restaurants, cafes, and boutique clothes shops. Since we were there so early, we stopped at 'Odin's Pub' for a quick pint to pass the time before dinner. It was happy hour - 2 pints for 80 pesos, but apparently that was for one person only, so we ordered another. It was a slightly odd place, a lot grungier than I expected, and a street seller/hawker named Antonio came and sat down with us to sell us dulce de leche and coconut cookies - five for 30 pesos. Since he wasn't going to leave, we bought some, but he promised us that we'd coming after him for more if we ate them with the beers so we held off.
Finally, we dined (it wasn't silver service, but it was definitely something fancy) at a restaurant called 'Lo de Jesus' to fulfil Jeremy's Argentine steak craving. It was huge so he should be good for a while, right?
