From Antigua we then headed to San Pedro on Lake Atitlan.
Decided to stay in the best hotel in SP, as all of the other places we were showed were the pits and i wouldnt even let a dog stay there!! The hotel was lovely and well worth blowing our budget on. It had a gorgeous roof terrece which we sunbathed on as we felt we needed a rest after 2 and a bit weeks of constant sight seeing, treking up volcanos etc. Place was very quaint and relaxing and would def rec people to go there.
Oh forgot to mention whilst on the bus to the Lake we realised that we had our last hotels room key on us and once arriving to this hotel Jo realised she had left her keys to her padlocks on her backpack in the hotel, what idiots we are!!! Luckily the hotel had a metal cutter as Jo was panicing she wouldnt have her belongings for the rest of the trip. Combinations locks are a must!! ;) Weather was amazing and very hot through the whole of Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, so its going to be a shock when i hit the cold weather in the US.
After spending 2 nights here we then headed to Guatemala City which was an absolute dump and would never go back. Luckily we checked into a nice hotel right by the airport, which meant we had slightly longer in bed before our 9am flight to Vegas.
Overall we preferred Belize to Guatemala but still some outstanding places in Guatemala which im so glad we saw. It also didnt help that not one person in Guatemala spoke English and typically between we only knew about 2 words of Spanish!!
Highlights of Guatemala were def the Lake, Antigua and the hot springs in Rio Dulce.
