Ok, its been a long time coming, but here is a direct copy of a blog I wrote in a notepad on our second day in Glengariff, County Cork, Ireland, on the 21st:
Sitting in 'Organico Cafe' in Bantry, which is the next town from Glengariff, where we stayed last night with a really cool Servas host named Tony. He lives on this way cool nature reserve out of town, called Skye Hill, only reachable by foot or four wheel drive, completely in the wilderness and with some cows and horses and just so beautiful. We arrived last night after a long bus ride from Cork, met Tony at the local pub "The Blue Loo" for a beer and a chat and then it was off to our home for the night, sleeping in one of his sweet caravans next to his house. We had a delish stew kind of dinner, and spent the rest of the night around his kitchen table drinking his red wine and playing a card game he taught us, Turkish Rummy, which was extremely addictive, you shoudl all try it some time. It was jolly good fun.
Today we went to Bantry markets with Tony, which were heaps cool, lots of kitchy little trinkets and amazing food stalls, we ate so many olives and sundried tomatoes. Its a very prety town, buy the water and with gorgeous views. In typical irish form the weather changes its mind every five seconds, itll be almost raining then freezing icy winds, then the next second your boiling and wondering hwy your wearing a jacket and scarf and yelling "Where the feck are my sunnies?!" But having said that its growing on me a little. Its nice to be able to wear a jacket for a change at times.
Im so happy to be here! And we realise all 3 of us have family heritage from the county cork area, so its deffs meant to be. tonight we are going to check out some pubs and hopefully hit up some irish music. te be sherr te be sherrrrrrr
