Saturday October 20th
Early start because our pickup was for 8:30am. We were the first couple to be picked up. Our guide was Tom and he was already aware that we are deaf from our information when we booked the tour. Seems to be going okay and understanding so far.
Picked up other 2 couples, making the total of 6 altogether in the group.
We were taken to the location where Jin and Sun filmed their japanese scenes. It was a japanese temple and they chosen that set cos of easy access to other sets nearby, plus they dont have mountains in Japan.
We were then led to the spot nearby, next to the japanese temple. It was another scene where Jack woke up from the plane crash and ran out to the beach to find out what was going on. At that location, there was no beach at all so they edited it to fit the story together!
We stopped by on the road after 10 mins drive from the Temple. In the distance, there was a pier. Tom mentioned that it was the set where the submarine was blown up by Locke. Daniel then asked if it was the same set where the Others kidnapped few main characters. Tom confirmed that it was too.
We were taken to the Turtle Bay Resort. We had to walk about a mile or so along the beach to get to the another location. It was in the forest. Once we arrived, Tom showed us the picture of the scenes that was filmed in the forest. It was the scenes where Walt was hiding from the big Polar Bear. We think that Tom also said that it was also the place where Kate and Jack were running away from "something" and hid in the trees.
Another spot nearby where Sayid tied Sawyer to the tree root (You can see in the photo that we have taken of the scenes) Daniel acted the scene as you can see in the photo! :P
As Daniel fancy being a tarzan, he had a go at swinging on the tree root too. Obviously Daniel wasn't heavy enough to break it!
We went to the nearby beach. It was another scene with Kate and Sawyer. We can't remember what it was for but again you can see in the photos of the scene we have taken. Tom pointed out to the beach in the distance that it was the location where they filmed last Wednesday for Season 4. We made our way to that beach so we can say we have been there when it appear on our TV.
We also looked around to see if anything were left behind and noticed the flip flops. Could it be Jack's? Sawyer's? Who knows?! On that beach, we noticed alot of sea turtles popping their heads out, and very close than the one we saw, the other day.
We walked back again to move on to the next location where we had our lunch. It was free too! Unlimited drinks too! Woo hoo! Good lunch! Once we had our lunch, we moved onto the nearby spot where they again filmed last wednesday for season 4.
Entrance into the botanic garden to walk towards the waterfall where Kate and Sawyer swam and found the briefcase at the bottom. On our journey there, Tom did talk about non-related LOST, especially about plants, which Daniel was very interested in and being a teacher's pet asking all the questions! :P We were shown one plant where you can use to make war paint. Daniel had a go as usual, putting make up all over his face :P
Once we arrived to the waterfall, it was lovely and tempting to swim. We were the only couple apart from Tom who had a swim. We also had a photo taken where Kate and Sawyer sat on the specfic rock!
A swim in the waterfall was lovely and warm. It was certainly very deep!! Daniel went into the waterfall and was being hitted onto his head very hard! Lisa was only there for 5 secs as she had contact lenses in. It was very powerful, enough to hurt her eyes! She forgotten to bring her set so she could take it out and have a swim without worries.
After a swim for 20mins, time to get dry and walk back to the car for another nearby location. In the car park, we were shown the tree where they had a small plane full of drugs stuck in the tree and Charlie found it. We were surprised about the location cos it was just next to the car park!!
Moving onto the next location where "Nigeria" scenes were filmed. It was at the unused sugar mill with airfield nearby.
Next location was "Others" camp/houses. When we arrived, it didn't feel as we were there cos it was too empty!! We were shown the trees where they were watching the plane going over and crashed onto their "island"
Moving on again to the beach where they filmed their first few episodes when the plane crashed. We couldn't believe it as it was a tiny beach with the road behind it. Apparently they covered the road with sand to make it bigger to fit their plane crash.
We asked Tom why they chosen the small beach. He says that it was quiet and can shut the road easily for their filming. The main reason was that it was a good location as there were no houses behind, just mountains. Basically other locations were nearby too, so it was also easy access.
Our last stop was a surprise which was at the airfield. We were taken to the hidden and covered high fences which we had a peek through the ripped materials. It was the damaged plane props that they used for their crash scenes! As we couldn't get the good photos of it, Daniel climbed up the fences to peek over and take the photos of it!
It was the last stop before returning back to our hostel.
Overall, the experience was good to see all the locations that they used, but we were hoping to feel that it was actually the place, seeing the set such as the plane on the beach etc. Overall, we wished that we went on the tour on the Wednesday, that way we get to see the characters acting their scenes!!
It was packing time again, in preparation for our flight tomorrow.
