Sunday 20th January
The ship left early like yesterday morning and again we were woken up by one of the staff as it was breakfast time! We were so tired due to sleepless night as it was so hot in our double room and lots of vibrations coming from the engine which was basically next to our room!
As soon as we have finished our breakfast, we were told to get our snorkelling kit ready as we arrived at the beach called Hayman Island to do our second snorkelling session.
We jumped onto a small boat which took us to the beach. We were looking forward it after yesterday snorkelling which we were enjoying so much and hoping to see big fishes.
We snorkelling around and were amazed to see lots of fishes, even better views of everything as it was so clear! We were so gutted that we didn't have any cameras cos we reckon that it would be better photos to take in this area. However we still enjoyed swimming around and stored it in our memories! At one point, we swam out further into the sea and met our regular resident which was massive and had weird eyes moving around. We followed it and tried to touch it but it swam down further, out of our reach. Suddenly Lisa was surrounded by so many fishes, swimming by! She was trying to be careful to not to hit any as she wasn't expecting a huge number of fishes to be near! She then realised that the small boat nearby were feeding the fishes! She then told Daniel to come over and enjoy to be in the middle of the fishes.
We swam back to the beach and had bit of break before continuing our snorkelling. We then spotted a beautiful mantra ray swimming so fast! We struggled to catch up and suddenly it dissapeared! We felt that it was our best snorkelling session we have experienced and to make it worse, we were SOOOO gutted that we didn't have any cameras for this session to remember!Jan
We returned to the ship at 11am for early lunch. It was time to return back to the harbour at Airlie Beach so we just relaxed on the deck while catching the sun rays.
We returned back to the land by 2pm and it was quite lucky for us as the weather started to turn bad with showers!
Time to walk back to the hostel to check ourselves back in and to collect our luggages. Lisa had a quick shower to get rid of the salty feeling that she had from the ship while Daniel went ahead to book our next stop, Hervey Bay for Fraser Island Adventures.
After quick check on the internet, we made our way to the camera shop to drop off our cameras film for development and returned back after a hour to collect it again. Photos weren't good which was dissapointing as it was quite dark, again causing us to wish that we hired the underwater digital camera. We compared the photos with the digital camera that we hired for Cairns, there was a big difference in quality!
In the evening, it was a chill out but first before we could do that, we had to repack everything back again, ready for our departure for Hervey Bay tomorrow.
