Thursday 24th January
We were up and bright by 5am, watching the sun rising up which we took the opportunity to take photos. As we were based in the different campsite, we were unable to follow the itinerary. It mentioned that we were supposed to leave by 6am before the tides come in at 9am or so. But unfortunately the timing were wrong as we were still stuck and unable to drive onto the beach. We were meant to drive to Indian Head by 7.30am.
Someone in our group found out that there was a track that we could drive instead of driving onto the beach to get to another desination. Instead of waiting around for the tide to go back, we didn't want to waste any more time, so we decided to use the track and went to Lake Wabby. As everyone were happy with Daniel's driving, they were happy enough for Daniel to do driving for another day. Once we reached there, we spotted another Goanna walking past, crawling under our 4x4 so obviously we took photos of it! We then had to walk all the way which was 1km. The scenery was breathtaking cos we felt as we were in the middle of desert after seeing plenty of sand everywhere! We had a swim for a while. We weren't there very long as we wanted to go to Indian Head.
Before we went there, we stopped by at Eurong for top up supplies such as ice, water etc. Unfortunately when we were going to put ices into our cooler box, Daniel was the one who found the box, full of leaked milk everywhere, soaking our food! Luckily most of food were unaffected due to being sealed up. Daniel had to clear it out and sorted it out.
Eventually we went ahead to Indian Head by driving onto the beach. On our journey, we spotted a dingo running along on the beach which Lisa managed to take a photo of it! Before we reached to Indian head, we stopped by to visit the Maheno ship wreck for photos opportunity.
Once we arrived, we had a brief lunch before exploring the Indian Head. Unfortunately for us, if we did arrive by 7.30am as the itinerary said, we would have seen the sharks, turtles or stingrays. We didn't get there till at least 2pm, however we climbed up the cliff and enjoyed the lookout of the Indian Head. If we had time and followed the plan, we would be able to visit the Champagne Pool for a swim. It was impossible as we knew we had to return back to the campsite before the tide come in. We left by 3.30pm.
Before reaching to our campsite, we stopped by at Eli Creek for toliets or photo opportunities. We finally came back to our tents by 4.30pm, and started cooking.
Once the darkness came, we went to the grass banks and watched the stars, waiting for the moon to rise up. It was taking forever! So we gave up and returned back to the tents. While we were sorting our tents out, we both had torches shining around the area we were sleeping to ensure that there weren't anything that could scare us. There was nothing at the time and then Lisa decided to check again after a couple of minutes and had a fright! Dingo was practically next to her so she remained calm and removed the flashlight off it, hoping it will go away. At the quick thought for a moment, she forgotten it was wild and tempted to approach it like it was a friendly dog! Good job, she had her brain locked in, alerting her that they can be dangerous! After returning the flashlight back to where it was, the dingo ran off, looking scared!
After we both calmed down after a fright, the moon finally decided to show itself. We both ran back to take the photos which was impossible to take as the wind was so strong, causing us to shake the camera!
Another early night as we were tired and there wasn't anything to do in the darkness!
