Saturday 2nd February
When we woke up, we didn't realise the time as we certainly woke up late! It left us only afternoon to do bit of browsing around in the city and visiting few places.
We prepared and packed our picnic lunch as we thought it would be nice to have a lunch near the river but unfortunately by the time we left the hostel, it was chucking down with plenty of rain! We had to wait under the shelter few times on our walk to the city, hoping the rain would ease up! It felt like as we were back in Townsville. Eventually the black clouds moved on and the sky were clearing up, thanks goodness!
We walked over the bridge to visit the other side of the city, and found the walkway along the river. There were few places to visit such as gardens, rainforest walk and markets. So it seems that we have made the right decision to walk over the bridge!
First thing we did was stopping for our lunch with the river views before we entered into the rainforest for a walk. It was a tiny one, comparing to the few rainforests we have been. Lisa spotted a very tiny snail sitting on the rail which we took as it was cute! We then spotted a sign saying that there would be markets on this weekend so it seems that we have arrived in Brisbane at the right timing cos we loved going to the markets and seeing alll sorts of unique stuff that you don't see back at home. As we approached to the markets, the first stall we spotted were selling the bananas with the centre filled with chocolate. We both decided to give it a go and we could say it was very yummy! After browsing few stalls, Daniel spotted a sunglasses that he liked and decided to get it as it was very cheap than what he was expecting to pay! Lisa just bought herself a hairband to keep her "out of control" hair out of the way! Afternoon had been good to us as the weather had cleared up, giving us a warm and sunny weather again.
After a couple of hours walking around, we had enough and thought it would be sensible to walk back to the hostel. Once we arrived back to the hostel, our legs have given up! We had a rest, browsing on the internet. We thought it was a sensible idea to move on to the next stop, Surfer's Paradise, so we had booked ourselves for the coach for Monday afternoon. We then searched for the hostel to stay which we found for a couple of nights. we are hoping that the hostel will be having jobs for us to do to exchange for free accomendation and meals.
Eventually at 8.30pm, we thought it was about time to get something to eat before the kitchen close. We just had a simple meal which was a bowl of noodles. We couldn't be bothered to cook a proper meal.
We returned back to our room and retired to bed.
