Monday 10th March
We got up at reasonable time to prepare for our long serious hiking day but unfortunately the free internet access got us distracted and didn't actually leave the hostel till 11am!! Opps! However we weren't sure what and where to visit today. However first we popped next door to fetch fruits for our snacks and then talked about what to do today. Instead of walking all over the National Park, there are transports such as Trolley Shuttle and Bus which you can hop on & off as well as visiting the Scenic World. We popped into the shop to find out which transports would be best for us. We went for Trolley Tour & Scenic World package. It included all day trolley tour ride to 29 attractions in Katoomba and Leura World Heritage area with an unlimited of stops. Plus one way ride on Scenic Skyway, Scenic Cableway and Scenic Railway at Scenic World. More infos on www. trolleytours.com.au
We decided to visit Scenic World tomorrow as we thought it would be a good idea to have a full day with no rushing around to see everything. Today, we hopped onto the trolley which we caught at the first stop of the journey. We were surprised that it came very early than expected. We boarded on and suddenly it was going different way which we weren't expecting. We then realised that we got on the wrong trolley as there are 2 different routes! So we had to jump off again and walked back to the first stop with 10mins spare! Luckily we managed to get the correct trolley this time and stayed on till the stop called Gordon Falls. We decided to do bit of hiking from Gordon Falls to Leura Cascades which should take us 1 hour bushwalk (The guide says so!)
First we went to the Gordon falls Lookout where we were supposed to see the waterfall, it was very tiny as recently there were no rain for a long while to make it into a big waterfall. We made our way around the cliff edges and taking photos of different views.
Unfortunately for Lisa, the tracks was occasionally muddy and she was wearing her pink croc shoes as she felt more comfortable wearing that, instead of her trainers. Her crocs shoes had breathing holes which the mud managed to get in and soaked inside of her shoes! However, she still had no regrets of wearing it!
It actually took us less than a hour to reach Leura Cascades so we decided to continue hiking till we had enough. After walking about 3km, we had enough and came onto the road to find the trolley stop. It took us at least 30mins before finding a trolley stop. We didn't have to wait very long for the next one to arrive as they usually are on hourly service.
We hopped on and relaxed on it till we returned back to the first stop that we boarded on in the morning. On our way back to the hostel, we popped into the fruit/vegs market to buy few vegs for our tea. We then went ahead and had our early tea as again, we didn't have lunch!
We then looked through the photos and selected the best ones and did the diary. Tomorrow, we are going to visit the Scenic World.
