From the bad comes good
Since the last post things have not been going so swell. We missed the flight we were hoping to get as there was a influx of construction workers looking to escape town. Not only this but a persisting tooth ache had worsened to the point that I needed 7 or so painkillers a day and could not sleep!...although bad luck had came our way there are many positives that came from this.
After missing our flight, our newfound second mother Cecelia, who runs the refugio we had stayed at a few nights, offered to put us up in her own home. We took her offer and ended up in a small but perfect comfortable 13 year olds room which seemingly had Justin Bieber wallpaper. At no other cost than a departure gift, we stayed there for four extra nights until our flight yesterday.
The toothache was so bad, I mentioned this to Cecelia and she got on the fono right away. An amigo of hers was the naval dentist placed there. The following morning he met me at the hospital and cleaned and infection under a filling... This seemed to work until the anaesthetic wore off.
I returned to the navy hospital who contacted the dentist, which I was instructed if pain persisted. He returned and solely completed a root canal - at least I think so anyway. After 1.5 hours I was expecting a hefty bill, but no, itwas free of charge.
The last few days the tooth has been trying to heal and the immune system trying to shrug Manflu. As usual Sav was at myside helping through a couple of s***ty days.
On Sunday we attended the end of summer festivalwith amigos from the refugio. This consisted of the whole town showing up for one massive free barbeque. The Puerto Williams township and people were highly hospitable and friendly. Definitely seemed like a tightly knit community, of which every one supports others like a big family.
Amazing place,great people. Awesome experience.
