Mi excursión global.
After battling some very persistent taxi's and bus companies we actually got a taxi the 3 hours to Sucre (it cost us about $1 each more than the bus) and finally started heading DOWNHILL! The plan was to try to get my body back on track and laze about for a few days. Which is exactly what we did. Sucre was a beautiful town with finally some warm weather and real air (with oxygen) and I just spent a few days reading and eating (Bolivian food is surprisingly very good) and watching the sunsets from a bar at the top of a hill. From here it is on to La Paz (the capital) and back up to altitude. The bus trip took about 15 hours and we might as well have been in refridgerated truck it was sooooooo cold. I forgot to bring my sleeping back on board and spend most of the night shacking from the cold. It also didn't help that I started getting some 'stomach issues' about an hour before the start of the trip (no toilets on these buses!). The driver didn't get a very friendly response (from anyone) when he anounced at 5am that the bus was about to run out of fuel and, unless we wanted to wait for the bus company to open its offices in 3 hours, we needed to chip in for some more. Of course he only drives the same route every day of the year!!! Ahhhh Bolivia.
