Laos, Laos

After Thailand we crossed the Mekong (the border) into Laos and got on a slow boat for two days down to Luang Prabang. The scenery was incredible even after 2 days on wooden seats and the alternative was 6 hours on a speedboat which didn't seem that appealing (or safe with all the trees drifting down the river). Paul Redfern Hey Ben, where are ya? The site gives current location as London/berlin, UK, but the red dot is somewhere in Asia. Going by the local time (2 hrs behind Melb.) Paul Redfern G'day Ben, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, Canada & Alaska were cool, but the weather was hot (high 20s C/low 80sF) most of the time. Were lucky enough to go on the Rocky Mountaineer from Jasper to Vancouver. Would have to be one of the most scenic train trips on the planet; coupled with this was the great way they looked after us. Top quality food/drink, as much as you can eat/drink at meal-times, and all and anything else (snacks, beers, a mid-afternoon glass of wine, or whatever.) is complimentary. Big footy news is that Hawthorn now join Richmond and Adelaide in the search for a new coach for season 2005. Forgot you were off to Egypt (only remembered when I sathe red-dot a minute ago); thought you were in Europe, perhaps to see the finish of the Tour de Lance. Anyway, enjoy tje pyramids, Nile, Red-Sea, camel rides, bizarres, etc. Gotta go, see ya next time. .............. Redfern hey

Paul Redfern G'day Ben, Manny & I got your message during the week; he has forwarded your GC (now known as a PAYG Summary) to the appropriate authority. Marianne & I got back from Canada/Alaska about 10 days ago. We had a great time, met some wonderful people, and would like to return and spend more time over there. It was a bit ordinary going back to the office; I dont envy you when your safari ends and you return to work. The Sri Lankans have finished a 2 test series over here, and your mate, Shane Warne, equalled Murali's (who did not tour here this time) test record of 527 wickets. The record will now fluctuate between these 2 for the next 5 years or so. Weather here @ the moment is pretty cold, sunny but with a freezing cold south wind. Haven't seen you in any of the Tour footage yet. Are you thinking of getting across to Athens in the next couple of months? Latest sports results are: All Blax 16; Wallabies 7 (Bledisloe Cup); Pies 73 - Lions 109. Not much joy for you there; expect it wont get you down too much 7 I hope to have better news for you next time. ........... Redfern. ..............

Naisy and Keith Hey Benny, hope you and Sarah are well? Will be looking for you on the highlights of the tour on TV, so do something silly, but dont get in Lance's way. Walters coming over today to start our front garden. I finished up at work last week so just tying up the end of financial year this week, then plan to do "coffins and muffy's" for a few weeks before keithy arrives. Take care, Naisy.

Sam Hey Benny...glad that you've made it Europa...where's the photos of Sarah??? We're well - caught up with Ged & Wal yesterday and just waiting for youse to return at some point when your pockets are empty! Jenny & Noel Hi Ben, We are now in Alice Springs and are sending this via the message board because we don't have your email address on us at the moment. We left home just over a week ago and are having a great time. We have been out to Uluru and Kings Canyon and came into Alice today. Weather has been OK - a bit colder than last year and cloudy but definitely warmer than Melbourne. We haven't managed to speak to Wal and Ged yet because they have been out every night since they came home. We will try them again tonight. Hope you and Sarah are having a good holiday - we will be clearing our emails each week so send us a message if you get time. We love to hear all your news.

Shane I was lost but now Im found! Welcome back mate! whats news and how goes spain? Is it experiencing crazy fallout from Euro 2004? Back here same old same old, work, work, Collingwood losing. Going to Hotham this weekend first time ever skiing and boarding, I hope you can visit me in hospital when u return. The fat greek and Macca say g'day as do the rest of the boys at D&R.
