Well a lot has happened in the past few days. Took a 10hr bus ride to north/west of Honduras. Wanted to stay only one night because it is a dodgy city but no buses on New Year's Day so we went to the mall, saw a movie and we are pretty sure people thought Sarah was walking around with her Gringo sugar daddy. Kept eying her off, but realised she wasn't local when she ordered "Quero una coca cola calliente por favor." Which is a very hot coke:)
We left on the 2nd for Copan Ruins:) Only highlight was seeing some of the Honduras country side, kinda like like Australian bush, no wet jungles like Costa Rica.
The last 2 days in Copan have been great! The town is so rustic. Cobblestone roads, Honduran cowboys walking around. No taxi's just tuk tuks:) Cool place to grab a coffee and watch the locals go about their daily business.
Had a guy from the hotel follow us for the first half hour in town, pointing shops out that we could clearly see on our map. But then he asked for a tip, annoying little man.
The Copan Ruins were amazing. Sarah and I have both seen ruins before (Machu Picchu & Angkor Wat) but we were really impressed. U walk in and straight away there are huge colourful Macaws flying around everywhere. They are the coolest birds, and really big! We had been reading quite a bit on the history of the ruins so it was great to see it all for ourselves, remembering things as we went. Not too many people around either which made it easier to take photos!
Off to Antigua, Guatemala today. Apparently the prettiest old city in Guatemala:)
