Sam's Travels in New Zealand
Hello! I'm alive! Wow what a week! This entry goes with the photo album Rotorua! Sorry the album's so big! So many photo's! We set out on saturday morning! Got the rental car (automatic so had to learn to drive that in quickly)! Headed for Rotorua! First thing we did was go zorbing! It was so fun! They put hot water in it with you (because its winter) and roll you down a big hill! But because theres water in it you slide down rather than tumble so its more relaxing than it sounds! Really good fun, couldnt stop laughing! That night we went on a Maori cultural evening which was really fun, they did all the songs and dances (including the Haka!) and then there was an all you can eat buffet! With chicken, lamb, fish, muscles, sweet potato, salads, steamed pudding, pavlova.....I have never been so full! The next day we went rafting which was so fun and a bit scary! We rafted a 7m waterfall! The highest commercially refted waterfall in the world! I fell out (as you can see from the photos!) Oh dear but it was really fun, well worth it! After that we had free hot pool tickets at the spa! So went and pampered ourselves for a few hours! The water was so hot (and not too smelly!) it was really nice, all outside aswell with a view over Lake Rotorua! That night we had chinese takeaway (in the little cardboard boxes!) and sat by the lake watching the sun set! Then went for the bigest piece of chocolate cake you've ever seen! Mmmmmmmmmmm! On monday we went to the thermal park which was so so cool! We just studied it at uni so it was r.good to see it! The geyser was really impressive and i was in my element! After that me, jen and ellie went to do a swoop! They put you in these handgliding harnesses and attach you to a crane and hoist you up then one of you pulls a cord and you fall down and swing between these two big posts (a bit hard to explain). It was so scary! Worst than skydiving! The expressions on our faces say it all! That night we went accross to Waitomo Caves.....
