An early start for a drive down the east coast.... Our first leg... Cairns to Townsville!!!! A 4 hour journey taking 6 or so hours on the greyhound but I had a lovely little doze...and got to see a cassawari!

Arrived in Townsville ferry terminal in perfect timing for the ferry across to magnetic island... A 20 minute ferry in very calm water... So no chance for sea sickness here! A short bus ride to our accommodation in a koala sanctuary in horseshoe bay....! We are staying in A frame buildings... Just the 3 of us! Perfect! The beauty of not sharing with a random person never gets old!!!

Took a stroll to the beach seeing a kookaburra and walked along the beach where we saw beach crabs and lorakeets....! Watched the beautiful sunset had dinner and a bit of the state of origin NSW v QLD game before heading home...the sky is beautiful so many stars in the sky... I was overwhelmed by the amount in such a clear sky it was beautiful... Math and Tom... You would love it!!!

It has been a very long and tiring day but we have seen lots of wildlife in the natural environment... Including a load of wallabies chilling out outside our "teepee/attic" whilst we were on the way to the bathrooms.... We did meet an interesting fella who claimed he was from Melbourne but was actually from Russia and described wallabies as hog like animals.... Clearly very educated... So between him, forever now known as query Melbourne and query Brisbane from stephs flat.... We are making quite the cross continental relations!

Exciting day ahead tomorrow.... Off to try and find koalas and wallabies (more of them) in the wild!!
