This is written in retrospect 2 days late... After 2 nights on the town and a distinct lack of sunshine... So the day started poorly.... It rained... A lot! The roads were flooded, our clothes we're drenched....had to ring my skirt out in the sink before starting the shift... Kat was sensible and wore a pair of shorts taking her work trousers in the bag.... Though she forgot the spare pants....! So the dry trousers and pants combo made for an interesting damp pa...

So today started promising.... The weather was dry and some blue sky peeking through... So we planned a strong morning in placement followed by teaching and an afternoon sunbathing.... It went downhill considerably..... First my 2nd pair of placement shoes broke... So Kat taped them together.... I looked like a dunce! Then there was a poor patient flow, and not so keen doctors so it was a combination of chatting with JCU students... Finding some key places to go....

We had a great day in placement today... Saw lots of interesting things including a relocation of a 100% displaced spiral fracture of a humerus... We did an entire full day! Check us out!!! Took a stroll to the share house office then to the night markets where we had some amazing dinner..! An all you can eat Chinese buffet... Then a stroll around the market.. I was in heaven... Bought a nice watch! Evenings are pretty chilled here... Til tomorrow xxx

A much better day in placement today, got myself attached to the registrar after an interesting teaching session on different diseases in the tropical region including Melioidosis...and some cultural teaching. The type of patient here are very similar to that in the uk, and the differences tend to be the rarities I think so far... Lunchtime teaching by the interns, our f1 equivalents was pretty good, interesting talk on Weils disease... I chose not to share dads ...

So first day today... Started with a little tune from the parakeets which decided to imitate our alarms.. To the separate tones! Very entertaining! After a damp walk they fortunately they did know who we were, and they were expecting us... So it was off to A&E for 4 weeks! Yay!!! Spent a bit of time mooching around... Saw some good cases and a STAR call... Something about trauma... But it wasn't quite the level of trauma we would have got into uhw resus...spo...
