I went out walking & ended up going through the Tenderloin. Gosh, was I feeling nervous. Its streets are full of itchy, scratchy people who look very rough & I could not wait to get out of there.
I got on bus 38 from Union all the way across the peninsular to Cliff House. It went through some dodgy areas. There were some pretty good viewing points in Lincoln Park of the Golden Gate Bridge. Also saw the Seal Rocks and the remnants of the old victorian baths.
I bought a ticket for the Hop-on-off tours... all 3 of them. At 1.30 I took the first of them which went to the Palace of Fine Arts & then over the GG Bridge to the view point on the Marin county side. Back via Pacific Heights where we were shown a house that Danielle Steel recently bought for $13.mm.
In the evening I took the night tour, but it was freezing so sat downstairs. For dinner I went into China town and had duck at the Empress of China. Back at the hotel bar there was a gentleman that looked like James Earl Jones the actor. This little old bag-lady came in and sat down and promptly told me about her woes... she lives in the Tenderloin and someone has broken into her building and was lying drunk. She stopped to help him & the neighbours saw & she thinks they have reported her for letting the man in. She was very funny really.
