Woke up feeling like death. Cannot drink any more!!! I think I am missing half the night & have photos on my camera which I don't remember taking. I also lost my hat which I had only just bought!!!
I check out and set off... not feeling too good & went around the block twice after leaving the hotel cos I thought I had gone wrong. I actually drove across the Golden Gate Bridge... what a great experience. I cannot believe I was lucky enough to do this.
I headed into Sausalito to take a look around, but found there was no parking. However, I headed on to the Muir Woods to check out the huge redwood forests. It was a very interesting walk along the boardwalk - these really are massive trees. It was also very cold on the forest floor.Weather got progressively colder as I headed north and the roads got narrower & windier. Hairpin turns. There was also a fair amount of mist on the roads. The views were spectacular & for me, better than south of San Francisco. I decided that I could not face any more alcohol and therefore miss out Napa & Sonoma so I stuck to the coast. At Bodego Bay - where they filmed the Hitchcock movie, The Birds - I enquired at the information place for somewhere to stay. North of Jenner was the Timber Cove Inn which was expensive for what it was. My room was bloody freezing & I had to ask for an additional blanket. I had dinner, delicious seafood pasta, in the dining room - no alcohol, just tea.
