Hey everyone,
hope your all doing well, 1st proper blog and its not guna be a bad one!!
first things first,
The flight:
Actually alot better than i was thinking it was going to be, entertainment was awsome, some leg room, chairs were comfy and lots of food.
The entertainment was the best thing about the flight! you had a remote control which had a slot in the arm rest which could be released so you could play games with it.. but they didnt have COD which i wasnt happy about! but the amount of tv channels to choose from was awsome!!(plus you could pause the show you were watching and fast forward or rewind) you have about 20 different films to watch from new releases, horror, kids, to low budget australian films. i ended up watching 'tron' and 'hallpass' which kept me entertained, and the amount of actually tv programs was unbelivable they had comady, kids, drama, documentary just to name a few!! i ended up watching family guy which was 3 episodes long and also watched the simpsons which was 3 episodes long, i watched a documentary on australia and one about melbourne (where to go and what to see), and there was plenty of tv shows and films i wanted to see but didnt because i didnt have time!!(i know on a 22.5hour flight i didnt have time to watch them all).. but that isnt all the entertainment there was thousands of songs you could listen to or you could create your own playlist by going through the albums and picking the songs you liked( had albums ranging from adele - the beatles and micheal jackson)!!
anyways thats enough about the entertainment and on to the food!!
wasnt to bad..how good can flight food actually get??
1st flight had lamb in a rosewine sauce with a free drink, the when they collected the plates had a choice of either a hot chocolate or a tea or coffee, then given a goody bag of water, polos, crisps and cookies!! then it was bed time, all the lights went out and the seats went back blankets came out!! but what was awsum cuz i normally have difficulties sleeping or aircrafts was the head rests on the airplane folded outwards so they sort of somthing to lean your head against...but didnt really help as i had about 6 hours sleep the whole 2 flights..for breakfast i had a continental breakfast..basically just fruit!!
2nd flight was basically the same apart from i had bbq beef with noodles and scrambled eggs with sausage and bacon for breakfast!!
The Flights:
1st one wasnt to bad, only awkward part was when we were landing at hong kong, it had to be the worst weather ive ever experienced whilst my plane was landing.. we were landing in a thunderstorm from the result of a cyclone..lovely!! this delayed the flight by about 30mins but wasnt to fussed.
2nd flight was a bit turbulant.. they had to put the seat belt sign on about 3 times i enjoyed it though as i kept having to witness the gay chinese flight attendent running to his seat whilst pushing people out of the way whilst screaming..get to your seat..get to your seat!! it was very amusing. only thing that was a little bit worrying was when the captain came on the tanoy and said there is heavy fog at melbourne airport so they may decide to close.. if they do were be landing at adalaide!! great!! but we didnt, made it in time!!
(1 more thing it was a very weird sight having a whole night time then day time then night time in one 11 hour flight basically went through a whole 30 hour day cycle in just 11 hours..that messes with you head!)
there was a guy there that met me at the airport and btw if you have ever seen boarder control on tv..it is NOTHING like that in melbourne airport!! you had to fill in a card to say if your bringing in any stuff which is standard anywhere but all they said to me was are you bringing in any food, wood, plants?? no?? go on through..that was it!! i was expecting sniffer dogs, rectal searches the lot but didnt get anything!!
the guy took me to my hostel which took about 30 mins was guna tip him but he got paid $80 just to take collect me and take me there so..
The bloke at the hostel was really nice and had the awsum name of simon.. he let me stay in a private 1 bed room so i didnt wake the others up so just went up to my room and went to sleep at about 10am till 5pm...WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!
went downstairs at around 5 after the 3S's, went down the street got a burger and then went to the internet cafe where i replied to you lot then went back to my room and got into bed at about 7pm because my head was spinning so much!! 13hours later i managed to get to sleep..yep thats right i managed to get to sleep at 8am.. i had just discovered jet lag!! when i tried to get to sleep at 7pm here it was 11am in england and my body thought it was 11am at 8am here it was 11pm at night in england and thats when my body decided to go sleep!!
anyways i woke up at about 1pm and went to talk to a girl called hannah who works here and shes pretty cool..talked me through everything and gave me adivce about jet lag (basically just stay up lol) and she also invited me out that night to the neighboughs night!!
neighboughs night was good everyone met at the coffee palace lounge (where im staying) and had a few drinks met some of the people who are staying there and working there and then went to an english pub where this event was being held.. the night was good fun it was a quiz and competitions with 3 of the stars who were all very nice, we all had a drink with them and photos and we all got very merry!! only downside were the prices!! a carlsburg and a shot of sambuca was $18.60(thats about 15quid) a pint was around $8.50 (6quid).
again last night got to bed at about 12am...woke up...3am!! damn jet lag!!! tried and tried and tried to get back to sleep but nothing!! eventually gave up at 7am went downstaires into the lobby to read a book then decided to go for a jog at 8am along the beach which was nice!! sadly it was very cold but it would of been lovely if it would have been hot!!
After that talked to simon for a lil bit and he asked me what i was planning on doing with my time here! i told him my plans and he offered me a job starting tomorrow cleaning dorms from 11-1 monday - saturday for free accommodation which i didnt refuse, all i need now is to find a job which suits those hours which will pay for my food and booze and im sorted after that went to sort my bank account out had a maccy d's :D (still not as nice as our english 1's) plus its basically the same prices as england, not like subway which is $12 for a footlong (and tastes terrible). and now im here..talking to you trying not to fall asleep!! got some plans for tonight, going to a club called cushion, $5 a drink so gotta check this place out if so ill be game every tuesday. also found a internet cafe which is 24hours so if i ever cant sleep again i will come here to skype people!! plus tryin to get hold of a cheap fone but not looking good atm!! cheapest ive seen is $50 and it costs $80 to be unlocked!! but when i do apparently its really cheap calls and txts abroad so i shall hopefully be contacting all of you soon!!
neways my next blog should be soon, probz in a couple of days, hope i didnt bore any of you but im affraid thats as good as my trip gets so far!!
